The Victorian State Government
The Victorian Government supports the installation of solar hot water systems by providing incentives to eligible owners of solar hot water systems who fit the below criteria.
Metropolitan Victorian Rebate
| Replacing an existing gas water heater with a gas boosted solar hot water system |
Up to $1,500 State rebate plus RECs |
| Installing a solar water heater as a pre-heater to an existing gas water heater |
$600 to $1,300 State rebate
(depending on the model) plus RECs |
| Replacing an electric water heater with an electric or gas boosted solar hot water system |
$1,000 Federal rebate* plus RECs |
| Replacing an existing gas water heater with an electric boosted solar hot water system |
